Having achieved this pure statement of color in space, Wardlaw experienced the need to put back into his work all the things he had taken out over the past thirty years, a desire to synthesize all of his experiences coming from art and life. ...having burnt the purist bridges it was a matter of populating the previous pristine surfaces of the sculptural support with all manner of color and form drawn from his knowledge of art, be it fine, decorative, craft, commercial or vernacular.
