Warning Signs - First Plague, pencil, ink, & acrylic on mylar, 12 x 9 inches

Warning Signs 1994-1997

The Warning Signs paintings were an outgrowth from the sculpture titled Warning Signs, from the series Exodus II. The entire series of Exodus I and Exodus II consisted of fourteen large sculptures and more than a hundred paintings. The primary motivation in this series was to make work that had a religious theme but manifested itself primarily in spiritual presence and awareness. The work cut across diverse religious boundaries and revealed a common spiritual concern that crossed contemporary art with cultural history.
